I did a top off earlier today, and just a few minutes ago i looked at the glass, and noticed a ton of little tiny dots all over the the front glass. I don't think their copepods. The tank is still cycling and turns 6 weeks tomorrow.

If this is an algae brakeout how long does it usually last and is it apart of a normal cycle? I can't take pictures because my camera battery is dead, and i think the dots would be to tiny for it to take a pic of.

    what colour are the dots?

if they are green - then its probably normal micro algae
the type that you need to use the Algae mag on 2 or so times per week

if they are brown - then its probably diatoms and if so they go away with no special attention required at all

if they are white - they could by hydroids, medussa stages of jellyfish , which is also common in new tanks and mine arrived within a couple of months and maybe a couple of months later, never saw them again

if they are blue - cheer them up

if they are like that, then thats the Hydroids , Medussa stage of jellyfish

another possibility with white dots are fan worms or even tiny snails

haven't been able tell yet if it looks like they have any legs, but i'll try to get a better look, their just so small right now

I was also kind of hoping that they were copepods since i haven't seen any of them
