i think i have a DOA

so i just gave the bag a real good smell to make sure and their is a slight smell but i dont think its the fish, maybe the water itself and i gently picked the fish up again to get a closer look at the eyes and they are for sure black

 

yea i was hoping i would be lucky like you, just makes me so sad, and like im really not wanting to toss him i just have a feeling that he's not dead and would kill myself if he was actually alive but i think ill just keep on acclimating him, and thanks

 

Sorry to read all your going thru. Last week at my local LFS I saw the same thing with a wrasse they just got in and about an hour later he was swimming all over. Good luck be patient.

 

Sadness....... I hope he is playing dead, this has been a bad week to order fish online..

what if i were to place him in the cardboard box that he came in, put in some tank water and moved him gently back and fourth with my hand would that stress him out more or encourage him to wake up if he's alive

 

Try to give him another lil shake... And see what happens... Still continue on with acclimation. Sorry to hear for your troubles. I'm hoping he will come back to life.. And I agree with the name Phoenix, I had a flame angel named Phoenix.
