I have had a GBTA pretty much since I started this hobby...and it has been a happy home for my clowns in my current set-up for 14 months...and then i changed to LED lights...the par was different enough to cause the Anenome to freak and move under some rocks for a few days....and now it keeps wanting to emerge...RIGHT where there are some rather expensive coral colonies and right where I cannot have an anemone...I've tried to extract it with ice on the foot, but its so fast at getting back under the rockwork that i cannot successfully remove it...but i cannot have it stinging my corals either....I feel like my only choice is to kill it as I would aiptasia.... :( What kind of effect would that have on a 300G system?

I have a feeling that you're going to get a lot of irate replies about this :)

Why not place a piece of rock where it likes to move to and just remove the rock once it moves onto it?

Agreed!!!! Could you get a powerhead and "annoy" it to move? I've herd other people doing this with success.

I've tried that with no luck...i've blocked off the way its been trying to come up now hoping to divert it to an open area...i hate the thought of having to kill it...but i cannot lose corals over and over for a nomadic anemone

First question I should have asked was how much % did you start your LEDs at?? When I started mine I was running at 10% power and it's been 4 week now and I'm running at 25%.

Please keep in mind that this isnt a 29G biocube that things can be easily moved and put back...this is a 265G aquarium with a LOT of rock and a lot of SPS colonies that were placed stratigically around the orginal "home" and out of reach that the anenome had for over a year.

I figured that since you stated you had a large tank in your original post.

Hopefully someone with a larger tank chimes in to help. Good luck.

I hear you Kevin. Unfortunately killing your nem would release a TON of toxins and that might lose more livestock than just nabbing it after it kills some sps. Can you move your SPS colonies out of the way, even temporarily? If it was feasible to move the colonies/frags for a few days, you could remove the nem and sell it to someone then replace the corals back to where they were. another plan: make some ice sickles to fit into your rock, maybe with a slim profile you can stun the foot and get it out.

what type of LED's did you switch over too, just wondering?

I went to a single Radion from a single 250w MH set-up over my 70g shallow cube. I have noticed that one of my RBTA's seems to stretch for the light a bit now after acclimating them to it. I'm running at 100% brightness now under natural mode.
