    After my tank plague a little over a month ago, when I lost allll my fish :cry:, I think I'm ready to get some fish again. My boyfriend and I are off to the beach tomorrow morning to catch some newbies. Some of the fish we had before were some uggos cause that's all we could catch, anybody have any fish catching tips they could throw at me? (why do the cute ones always have to be unattainable! ;) )

    BTW I know the laws about what I can and cannot catch and all that jazz so no need to advise. :)

    Glad to see you are sticking with the hobby. Might go look at the LFS for some cute ones. :)

    Do you happen to have a link to the FL laws on this topic? I'm in Broward, and have no idea what the laws are. I haven't gotten anything from nature yet for fear of this...

    Me too, if I lived where I could catch tropical fish I would have so many. I would be out there everyday trying to catch the one I really want. I guess its better Im land bound.

    There's definately an art form to catching fish. We've tried slurp gun with no luck, seining with no luck, and hand netting with okay luck but we always bring some bait along with us and lure them in from the shallows and rock piles. It's definately fun cause it's like a nice afternoon and then you'll have the memory of the day every time you look at the fish....plus it doesn't cost anything! Give it a shot!

    oh and Hobe Sound is about 20 minutes north of North Palm Beach Luna. It's just a little beach town.

    There used to be a place down in the Keys called Caribean Creatures that would take you out diving for $50 with all the mentioned devices. Don't know if they are still around but you if they are you could get some ideas. I think they were on Islamorada or just north.

    Here is the link;

    Can't personally say good or bad things but I did meet a group of people who had done this with sucess and loved it. Also I don't know what the cost is now.
