I have a CPR HOB refugium which has been running for almost 2 months. The lighting cycle is opposite of the DT. I seed it with copepods and I also have a money plant instead of chaeto. The money plant has been growing great, it's gotten double in size since I put it in almost 2 months ago.

I also have some red stuff, I think it's algae but I guess I need confirmation because it's not slimy, it's more hair. Also I have some other growth that I just don't know what it is. If anyone can tell me it is greatly appreciated. Is it anything I need to remove or is it ok?

Remove the red stuff it can become a real pain if you don't. PM John Maloney about it.

Hey guys that for the quick reply. I'll get this out tomorrow ASAP. I don't want this taking over the refuge. I'll also pm John about this. Any idea on the othe stuff growing. It kinda looks like hair.

Hey quick question.. Do you all think if I shut off the lights it would kill this stuff since its been thriving with the lights on. I'm currently running the fuge on a 12 hr cycle. Also I couldn't wait till the morning and I tried to pull some of that stuff off and it's hard as hell to get all of it off the plant.

    Quick update

Hey guys thanks for the help. I PM John and he told me pretty much the same thing you all did and how to best handle it, so I got an order of mexican turbo snails arriving today to mop up the place. ;D

    Thanks again
