I have a buddy up in AR and we both started the SW hobby about the same time. He's got a 100gal tank...i told them time and time again to do water changes and to test their paramiters.....but they didnt listen. I guess he got a wild hair and tested his nitrates....they were through the roof, im not sure the exact number as i have not talked with them directly (our wifes gossip) anyways, he freaked out and did a 75% water change on sunday.....im guessing that this is going to throw his tank into another cycle.(its been up about a year now) is there anything aside from moving the fish to another tank(which he doesnt have) to help save his livestock. he just has some Mushrooms as far as coral goes. But he's got a Porcupine puffer, LMB, foxface, Yellow Tang and....a couple other fish i cannot remember.

Is there anything he can do? or should i just tell him to start over?

    thanks guys.

The fish(depending on size) and corals you mentioned should probably be able to tuff it out. A simple rubbermade container with aeration, heater, and powerhead can be used as a temporary tank. I'd do that rather than leave them in to tough it out.

Honestly, I really dont see a problem with that WC, unless the tank is still cycling. I've done that before without any ill effects. Luna

I agree with Luna...big water change probably called for.

Hopefully will teach him to keep closer eye on water params and take up habit of doing routine water changes...

Have him join up with us here at 3Reef...we will straighten him out! ;)
