Well when I woke up this morning I noticed a line/crease on my RBTA entending from the mouth out to the edge of the oral disc. The line is only on one side of the mouth not the other. From what I read they split when they are not happy, but I have also heard the split when they are happy. I do not want it to split, I would like it to get some size first as it is only maybe 5-6 inches across.

Could this be a reaction to is't new partner. I have had the nem in the tank for 2 weeks and my black percs never went near it so I decided to get an allardi clown at the LFS 2 days ago. The allardi went straight into the RBTA and has made it a home. I just find it strange that 2 days after I added the allardi the RBTA decides to start splitting.

How do you encourage them to grow rather than split?

they dont split because they are unhappy. They split like anything else that goes asexual. it is done under good water conditions and the fact that they are happy where they are and want to reproduce. just like a mushroom or polyp. I have heard they split to try and preserve themselves under bad condition but thats not true...its good water and a good environment that makes them want to split...
