    RODI= Reverse Osmosis Deionized water, they sell units that create this water that should read 0todal dissolved solids. Its the ONLY water that should really go into your tank imo. LFS sell em by the gallon if you cant afford a unit, but i say this to all new people joining the hobby. if you plan on staying in it longer than 5 months, get an inexpensive RODI Unit, 3reef has many sponsers that can hook u up. Do yourself a favor and look at getting one.

    prime does not remove the ammonia/nitrite/etc it only changes it from a toxic form into a non toxic form by binding it with another element and can still be consumed by the bacteria

    nitrite should be at 0 so there must have been some die off

    salinity swings can really hurt your fish so try and keep it stable

    and an RO/DI is a Reverse Osmosis/De-ionizer which filters tap water and purifies it
