my melanurous wrasse started acting funny last night, was fighting his reflection a lot more then normal, and darts around the tank "poof ed" up, with the dorsal and pelvic fins erect. when the lights went off he did go to sleep in the sand like normal. This morning he has been doing the same thing for hours. Its making me worn out just watching.

anything i should be worried about??? have had him for about 2 months, put a new (drastically different) light fixture on 2 days ago.

oh yeah did loose 2 fish to Ich last week, a sleeper goby, and a royal gramma who escaped the QT tank the same night i put it in.

The Melanurous has not shown any signs, his erratic movements dont look like ich to me, since he is not banging into things

The yellow wrasse has smacked the substrate occasionally but no white spots or other signs,

the new light fixture is probably the reason, if its more light, the wrasse can possibly see its own reflection more clearly and thus believes there is another wrasse in the vicinity
therefore cant relax as it used to

is your tank fairly new and the walls fairly clean- once algae , coralline builds up on back and sides this will help IME

I have experienced this with a few species of fish

The glass is very clean, between cleaning it when i moved recently, and my obsession with clean glass (use a mag float at least twice a week).
I just recently starting getting good coralline growth, and probably let it grow on the back wall

    thanks
