Hey all. A couple days ago I bought a rock of green star polyps. Since their introduction, they have not come out at all. I doubt it's light shock, they were under MHs at the LFS, and I have PCs. Besides, my frogspawn and sun corals, which I put in at the same time, are both doing fine. All my corals are out and wavin except the stars. I read a lot about them, and asked the guys at the store, everything classifies these guys as being easily kept. What could be at work here? I did a water change this morning, it was due. I see one of the polyps barely coming out, but otherwise it just looks like a piece of LR. ................................???? :(

P.S. The pic is an example, its not my rock.

They might be stressed from the move. Mine didn't start coming out until ~3-4 days later and fully out about 1 week later.

I wouldnt worry that much, star polyps usually take a while to open their polyps. Mine took about a week to funny extend.

OK cool. I will relax, then. My tank is finally to a point where it can sustain most corals, so when they all look great except for one, it just made me wonder. Thanks for the advise everyone! KARMA!

Mine opened up the next day when I got them. When I upgraded to the MH, they took 2-3 days to acclimate to it, now they are all out.

A lot of people say zooanthids are real easy to keep but that has proven wrong for me as they fall victim to necrosis so easily. You can also shock them to light so easily. IMO, dont believe everything you read. ;D

They are slow. When they finally come out, watch them on a weekend after your lights come on: all your other polyps will be out, and they will still be snoozing! You don't have a problem.

Oh yea, it took several days but the whole rock is out and about now! Thanks for the advise. As usual, you guys helped me calm down and relax, and let them do their thing. I can't wait until they start spreading! My Xenia is spreading too. The frag I made, well half of it died but the other half is thriving. I have even found a few random polyps throughout my tank, and the stalk that I cut is growing back more and more every day! Soon the frag rock will be good enough to trade in for some goods at the LFS!
