Hi is it ok to use coral sand rubble? I have it in my tank bout inch deep but it gets alot off dirt in it! Its more like tiny stones rather then actual sand. Also as it gets quite dirty is it ok to turn it all over when doing a w change to get some off the dirt out?I would like to use real sand really but my friend has it in there tank & it get everywhere! all over the rocks & really colouds the tank when doing a water change.
    Thanks K

The course sized sand that you have is known for being a fast detritus sink, collecting and depositing everything there. Having said this however, even with fine grain sediment, eventually detritus will accumulate there as well through advection and diffusion, it will just take more time.
A fine grain aragonite is better though for many microcrustaceans and other life forms though and their are ways of combatting the sand being disturbed!

ok Thanks. If i do change it to aragonite is it just as simple as taking out all my coral rubble & putting in the new stuff, or will the change affect my params in my tank?
    Thanks K
