So what I bought thinking was a green star polyp actually turned out to be a Briareum sp. "Encrusting Gorgonian" I got first suspicious of this purchase when I researched and realized most GSP have a purple encrusting base, while this little guy has a skin colored, mobile base.

Now my issue is this, I love the little guy he adds a nice touch to my tank but the base wont stick. making it hard to place it in a medium flow without it drifting away (I have come round this my "pinching" it with live rocks to keep it in place), sure I could always use an aquarium glue but would rather not.

I was wondering if any of you people out there have any experience with this coral, especially in regards to its growth, does the base just expand? will it eventually stick to the rock?

I don't have a picture of mine but it looks exactly like this one (only smaller)

(sorry if posting this link is taboo)

    thank you in advance

I loved the briareum in my tank. I'd like to get more for my 5g. It will attach and encrust on the rock but I also had to use reef epoxy initially.

I used rubber bands and once the GSP/gorgs attached to the rock, I cut the rubber bands and pulled them out like stitches. In the US, it is a very common coral, but that doesn't mean it is uncommon where you are. Ultra scolys in the US cost a fortune, while in Australia they don't cost nearly as much and are much nicer than many found here.

    Growth rate is fast.
