Anyone still affected by the Ice Storm on the East Coast ?
Still waiting fo poles and trees to be cleared. It's like a war zone over here.

I had enough power to run the skimmer and heaters and so far I don't see any casualties. I am using a public terminal to get some 3reef updates, Kinda like Crack...

    Cheers

I don't live out east, I'm in Indiana, and I just looked up at the TV and it said we have an "Ice Storm Warning" and are expecting 6"-12" of snow tonight. I think it's going to be interesting driving to work tomorrow at 6am.

We were out for 5 days putting our power on here on tuesday in the late afternoon. Had a generator so we had the basics running skimmer pump and 1 light. Kept me going although we had some scares with ph drops from the initail power outage and then the generator quit and we had to get another one so that caused another ph drop. No casulities in the salt tank just a few in the freswater tank.

We are still without power after one week, we went from 300k people out to down below 100k, 6-12 coming tonight and 6 plus ice coming on Sunday, just trying to keep the tank alive at this point but it may be futile.

Maybe some Karma can get me though...

I too am watching the weather, had a discussion with driver at work on how our tanks would survive a power outage. It's 6:30 now and doesn't look too bad but all schools are closed.

It's apparantly an ice rink straight across from the Illinois border to Ohio. My man said it's a nightmare out there. Luckily school was closed and I didn't have to go out in it.

Regarding power outage, some people here have generators, I don't but I have two battery backup UPS's that I will just run minimum filtration on if need be...

Whoa!!!! When the schools close in Michigan, there's issues. LOL

Here in St. Louis, it's hilarious. All the weather forecaster has to do is say there's a 30% chance of snow and everybody and their brother runs to the grocery store to buy bread and milk. (I'm not joking). We had a blizzard in 1982 and you literally stayed where you were for a week. (It was cool for me....I was a kid and I got to shovel the roof because people's roofs were collapsing....LOL) I'm sorry, a 30% chance of 4 inches of snow is not exactly the same as an inch of ice covered with 23 inches of snow. ::) There were drifts though that were 6 feet tall.

(for those interested, there is a rare thing called thundersleet and thundersnow) Thundersnow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You know we had thundersleet this morning, the last time we had thundersnow was a few years ago. It's pretty weird.

Regarding the shoveling the roof thing, we have this giant aluminum shovel thing that is made for shoveling the roof. We rarely use it but when you get 12" or something it's a good idea to get the ladder out and take care of it.
