about 2 weeks ago i bought a blue hippo tang a little over an inch in size
3 days later i noticed the ich started feeding food soaked in garlic extreme
and using ich attack. Ive been using both for about 7 days. The ich has gotten worse on the blue tang and has shown up on other tang (scopas).
I was trying to get rid of it without using a qt becuase all i have is a 10g setup to us as a QT and didnt know if its big enough for two perc. clowns, mandarin, scopas and blue tang.Is a 10 gallon going to work for 6 weeks to get rid of the ich in the DT. all fish are about an inch except the scopas its almost 2. OH the DT is a 46 gallon bowfront

So am I to understand you added the ich attack to the DT?
I would do nothing but feed a very good diet and keep the water prestine. Ich is like the common cold or the flu to marine fish: it will normally run its course, only when the host becomes stressed enough will it succum to the disease. Hypo salinity, ich medication, QT tank transfers, etc will only add more stress. The ich is probably due to the result of keeping two tanks in a 46 IMHO, whether due to just the emotional stress or ailing water params of the very heavy bioload. If you do try to treat, only treat the affected fish. If everything is well, there is no way the mandarin and even probably the clowns will succum to it. Trying to meddle with them will only cause more stress, making it even more likely they will come down with it. And the 10 gallon will not work at all, no chance.
What are you feeding? Water params? Any more info you can give us?

hey thanx for the info, just needing some advice as to what i need to do.
    water parms are ph8.3,kh14,ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20ppm, phos 0
have done 3 15% water changes in the last 2 weeks to keep nitrates down havnt done one in bout 5 days cause of the ich attack. I also bought a cleaner shrimp to help clean a little Scopas will let it clean him but the blue hippo wont let it close All fish still eat like monsters especially the tangs. The scopas acts normal except for trying to rub off ich on rocks. The blue tang stays on one side of the tank swimming against glass most of the day. Im just feeding them HIkari Mysis, Brine and Krill soaked in garlic.

And about the bio load i have a aqau c remora skimmer, penguin 200 running no carbon also due to ich attack med, and a hydora koraline 1. Im thinking of getting another hydora #3 for some more flow and replacing the penguin 200 with a aqua clear 110, will this help much with the bio load

What are you feeding for the veggies? Tangs are primarily herbivores, and need most of their diet to be that. Frozen algae mixes, nori on a clip, broccoli on a clip should all be used. How much are you feeding?
Increased filtration can help, but 2 tangs is oing to be a lot to overcome. How much rock do you have?

You are probably overfeeding, and yes, not having veggies is a HUGE problem.
In a single day, can you give me an idea on the AMOUNT you are feeding?
The first thing I would do is get veggies ASAP. Get some frozen algae mix and broccoli. Just use the brocolli raw and tie it to a rock. Give them as much of the broccoli as they will eat, it wont muck up the water, and it does wonders for their immune systems. Without a good diet the fishes immune system will never have a chance.
Before worrying about the filter and skimmer, I would definitley get some more rock. General rule of thumb for fish only is one to one and a half pounds per gallon, and reef being one and a half to two pounds per gallon. Order base rock, as adding live will cause another cycle. Rock is your main source of filtration, so that will make the biggest difference in your water quality issues.

Those are good, but I use Selcon in place of the Zoe.
Also, for xdhendrix, in the future, skip the Kent Garlic. Just get a jar of minced garlic from the supermarket and use that. They only cost about $2 a jar ;)
