i've got my yellow in my newly set up, hospitol tank. it's a 29gal. i've added copper to the tank.
in my main tank, i've added "STOP PARASITE", which seemed to work, except i'm noticing spots on my clown tang. he's got no appetite. i'm wondering if i should put the clown in the hospitol tank, also? will he fight with the yellow? i'm worried sick over these 2. i don't know what to do. HELP!!!

Greetings and sorry for your troubles.

I would say that you would be worse off leaving in the main tank if there are signs, which it appears there is.

If you are afraid of them fighting I would say pick up one of those cheap dividers at the LFS. It is basically a screen with a frame that will keep them appart. You definately dont want to stress them any more than needed.

Also, Many do a 5 minute fresh water dip between the main tank and QT tank. The FW is supposed to make any little buggers fall off. Important to keep the temp the same and not more than 5 minutes.

    \Good Luck

A tang in a small tank like a 29gal tank might only make the stress worse, they need a lot of swimming room. How big is the yellow-tang? Because even the small ones probably won't do well in a 29gal. Best of luck to you :).

Treat the non eating fish and the tank with Mardel Labs Marycin 1 with for saltwater it contains Vitamin B .. Totally safe to use just read label and stop skimmer and remove carbon . Ich in and of its self is nothing more then a stress related cold like to humans or pest like Flea's to dogs. The fish will build an immunity to them over time. My wife pointed out last night a hippo had a few specks on him.. First out break in almost a yr. But Its spring and Thats when it appears more often like in the fall .

All tanks like ours here have the ich laying in wait . Its been over a yrs since anything was added to this tank and I have had it to hit other of my tanks after 4 and 5 yrs even.

    THANKS GUYS
any suggestions on the best food for the clown tang?
he seems healthy. just fed the tank, he's eating, but very little. sorta taking food in, then spitting out. the yellow looks pretty bad. kinda laying on the bottom, then swimming a little.
should i hold off adding any new fish to the big tank for a while?
should i keep treating the big tank with the STOP PARASITE?
i'm going to buy a few cleaner shrimp today. hear they're good against ick. i bought 2 NEON GOBIES yesterday, i hear they help, also.
funny thing is, all signs of ick have disappeared from they yellow, yet he looks worse then when he had the spots????

I know people that buy one of those cheap suction cup clips that are used for seaweed sheets I believe and put the broccoli in there and suction it to the side of the tank. Most LFS have them.

Long term, the Stop Parasites did not work on my blue tang. It may have slowed down and killed some of the ich, but not all of it. Also, if your tank is less than 6 mos-1yr old, you only want to dose the Stop Parasites at 50%. The coppersafe will work on the yellow tang, but keep a close watch on the water parameters, esp ammonia. Raising the water temp in the main tank to 82 and decreasing salinity (slowly) could help speed the ich lifecycle and weaken it.

Just make sure they're eating. Soaking the food in water with garlic helped keep my tang eating. Cleaner shrimps will help, but mine seemed to get fed up with the tang buggin him all the time ><
