Almost all the fish i've put in my tank look like they have ich after a week, but after 2 weeks they look fine. Well i put a powder brown in and he got it bad and then everybody else did too. I've had zero luck catching any fish, so i'm thinking i'm just going to let whatever can't fight it off die in the tank, and then hopefully i'll have a couple strong fish leftover and i can start restocking after a little break.

I know unless i go fishless ich will remain in the tank, is there any other options i can try so a couple months down the road i can have a healthy amount of swimmers for my viewing pleasure?

Here's my opinion take it for what u will.I've delt with ick afew times.some worse then others.

1.Ride it out healthy fish will fight it off and become more resiistant.
2.increase frequency of water changes id did 10% twice a week as oppsed to 10% per week.
3.soak all food in selcon (hufa additive),garlic, and vitamin c.
4.feed as much of a variety as u can
5.Always keep some form of algae food available nori or live macro algae, remember to change it every few hrs so it doesn't decay in the tank.
6.remove the unfortunate nonsurvivors they will rot and make things worse.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It is a beautiful tank. Sounds like you have it all under control. The only suggestion I can make is possibly addition of a UV filter.

I do not use one and do not believe they are a cure or even close to one for Marine Ich, but I do think that they reduce the amount of parasite within the water column there by probably providing a little relief to the fish and hopefully decreased signs/symptoms/fatalities. ( yes I know ich does not live in the water column).

    Again very nice tank.

I had a powder blue in my last tank with a sailfin and a yellow tang. every fish in the tank got ich, so I started soaking all the food in garlic, adding vitamins, doin weekly water changes and I added a uv sterilizer. It cleared up in like a week and a half......... The medications never work for me...... I always just ride it out......

I used to run a UV sterilizer but it never seemed to do much. I still have it so i could set it up pretty easily.

As far as garlic, i used to cut up fresh garlic and mix it with food before i fed the fish, but it was kind of a pain. I have minced garlic on hand, would that be fine?

And the powder brown died, his body was eaten pretty much over night but i got rid of what was left. I'm just waiting for the blue throat to go next, he's covered like i've never seen before. Whats interesting is all 3 tangs i have left will let my Seargent Major pick the ich off of them, but once he tries to go for the Blue throat the whole tank goes into hiding.

I'm gonna go for frequent water changes, the garlic soaked food and set my UV back up.
And thank you everybody for the kind comments and suggestions. I'll post back when i see some results.a

I used a product named Hertana. It helped.
