i was watching my fish last night and my flame hawkfish was pale and scratching, and my clownfish was acting jumpy and scratching, but today they are fine and acting normal, also i couldnt see any white dots yesterday or today. I also have a post on what happened yesterday called fish scratching on rocks for more info. Are they all fine, they were the only ones scratching yesterday btw.

Even though you can't see it, they probably still have it in their gills.

They could have fought it off, but its still in you're tank waiting to strike when the fish get stressed.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Marine ich is only visible on the fish for a short period of time, the parasite then falls off the fish into the substrate and continues it's life cycle. The parasite is still present and the fish may likely become symptomatic (flashing/breathing at surface/covered in white spots) when stressed.

Because of the short period of time it's actually visible on a fish, it leads people who have used those reef safe products to kill it believe that they were successful. Nope, you just do not see it anymore until it rears it's head again. This also explains why people think that raising the temperature of the tank or lower the salinity is effective, again nope.

And she digs it out again.
