So I've been fighting what I believe to be ich for several days now. Everyone is eating just fine, and some days look better than others.

Its been decided that after the thanksgiving holiday, we're going to treat everyone in the tank in a QT tank. Here's my question though, right now we only have a 10 gallon setup for QT. Is that going to be two small to house the powder brown, 2 B&W clowns, sailfin and 2 chromis for the treatment time span? Or would I be better to use my saltwater mixing 40 gallon garbage can?

Well its a food-grade can. One of those Rubbermaid Brute cans.

I thought anything that didn't contain copper didn't entirely get rid of the ich? I'm looking to completely eliminate it from my tank.

Your in a tight spot there. I wouldn't trust the supposed reef safe stuff to really do the trick. None of it has been proven to treat like copper. I also don't think your fish will do well in a ten gallon for 6 weeks. It sounds like the mixing container is your only option, but if you use it for this you won't be able to mix with it again due to the copper. Since your going to ruin the container anyway, why not go out and buy something to do the job. Try Craigslist for a cheap tank you can resell after, or maybe even a stock tank.

Good luck! I still haven't won my battle with ich for similar reasons.

Any chance your LFS will hold the fish for a few bucks? Just ask them to either freshwater dip for a few minutes or put them in a copper QT for a week or 2 then add into larger setups.

If it where me, ive never lost a fish from taking it out as long as its eating and acting normal. I dont believe in taking them out unless they are on there death bed. I believe taking them out will only stress them more. If i where you as long as they are eating and acting normal, just feed a bit more and add some garlic extact to there food.

Im in illinois, chicagoland area, and I recently picked up a 55gal used AGA tank for FREE from some guy that had posted it on craigslist. He wanted the tank gone, he had already killed everything in it, and so I went and picked it up for $20, cleaned the hell out of it, and plan to use it for a QT for my 75gal reef im building. My point here is, you CAN find great steals on aquariums. Check out craigslist in your area, and try your local listings for garage sales. You'd be suprised what you can find!

I use Algae Sheet's with a Gel-Tek rubbed into the sheet's and put it on a clip in the tank. It help's pretty good with ICH. Gel-Tek is a thick liquid medication that fish eat. It is Tetracycline and is affective for ICH Velvet, Ulcer's and sores, Pop-Eye, Dropsy and Gill Diseases. Good Luck.
