Just looked in my tank and noticed that my neon goby is covered with ich and my yellow tang is beginning to show some too. Is there a way I can treat this without spending money on a treatment that will cost me $10.00 a day? The system is 100 gallons total.

    Fish:
    neon goby
    yellow tang
    yellow watchman goby
    six line wrasse
    purple dottyback

    Coral:
    monti cap
    monti digi
    zoas
    shrooms
    GSP

Instant Ocean ich treatment costs $13.00 for a pack of 16 tablets. 1 tablet=10 gallons; 10 tablets x10=100 gallons. I have to add 10 tablets for at least 5 consecutive days. That gets to be expensive fairly quickly.

Nope. I'd have to take all the fish out.

I think I'm going to do what was suggested in that thread and raise the temp, feed garlic and not stress them.

First off, whats a Tiger doing in longhorn country?lol

Secondly, are all your fish eating? if so, keep them eating! Are you feeding your tang algae sheets? If so, lace them with garlic to keep him eating, if not, go get some! you can buy nori sheets at the grocery store for cheaper! make sure there 100% seaweed, no preservatives flavors etc! it would be a good idea to set up a hospital tank just in case! But i'd just monitor the fish and keep them eating! Most fish you have should pull through! moving a fish will only cause more problems and stress! the fact is, most tanks have ich, and its brought on by stress! Did you add anything recently, change anything? What are your water params?

raise the temp slowly! remember, the last thing ya wanna do is add stress! also, just said it, but if your not feeding your tang nori/seaweed, go get some! you'll prob be alright! just watch them to make sure they eat! get selcon and garlic!

plus with the treatment, you're gonna have them in a smaller tank, so cheaper! may want to go get it to be safe! keep the receipt, ya can take it back!

I lived in Louisiana for seven years before moving to Houston, seven years ago. Louisiana is like my second home, but not near as good a my real home, Ohio. I decided to go with LSU because the Buckeyes suck. :cheesy:

All the fish are eating. I've just started feeding them Ocean Nutrition Formula II and they're eating it.

I do have nori, but I don't have any garlic. I have minced garlic with citric acid and salt, but that can't be good for them.

Only thing I did rcently was a water change, dosed some magnesium and added a heater.

    ok those are fighting words!lol! O H!

yeah dont use that minced stuff, ya should get some garlic extract from a LFS! Should help! Tangs are particularly susceptible to ich, so the nori with selcon/gralic should be a priority for him! cheaper than the alternative!

i'd cut down the lights a bit, keep water params in check, maybe do a few water changes, and go from there! if ya keep them eating, you should be ok!

BTW NOLA is my second home! love it!

hope i was simple enough for ya, i know how ya tigers hate to read!lol:)
