Two very easy, but not cheap, ways to get rid of ich. Get control of your water temp. (shouldn't vary more than 3 or 4 degrees) and get a UV filter. A small heater/chiller should solve your problem. Once in a blue moon I get fish that get a very mild case when some new stuff is introduced in my tank. The UV filter will not let ich survive very long, and whatever is on the fish dies off in a few days from what I've seen.

    UV filter

    HI,
I see all kinds of chemical treatments and they scare me a little everything that can kill the ICH may be toxic to verts and the fish. Not to mention the stress to the tanks bio-filters. They use formalin based things, copper and other heavy metals special stains..
I wonder if a diatom filter would remove the microscopic larva of ich it works in freshwater to break the cycle :p

That why I asked if it works in Saltwater

    Hi,
Here's what most of the saltwater Guru's use for ich.

    Odyssea 36 watt Ultraviolet Sterilizer - 706003

some type of Ultra Violet sterilizer may kill pods, but so does some filters.

Make sure you don't over nuke your water. If you go with a koy pond UV I would guess its a pretty big one. Don't leave it on all day or you could kill everything in the tank.

you can also try Ruby Reef Kick-ICH. its worked very well for me when some of my fish had ich, it also it NOT harm anything in your tank, just be sure to remove your carbon filter. I treated as directed and it fixed my problem, I was also using garlic to help keep my fishes eating. Hope you get it cleared up some, keep us posted

If your fish have ich, Then you installed a uv filter it will not kill the ich on the fish. The uv filter will kill the ich larva but will not kill it all off. Also if you are using some type of ich treatment I would reccomend to take the uv filter off because it will kill your treatment and make it not work at all. I am going through the same thing right now. Lost 5 out of my 7 fish and 1 cleaner shrimp. the 2 remaining fish still have the ich :( Good luck to you. I hope you do better than i am.

Another thing you could do to help is to freshwater dip the fish. Get some ro-di water, and aclimate it to your tank, JUST match the temperature. When your 100 percent sure temps were matched, then you get the ich infested fish, and put him in the fresh water for 15 to 20 seconds, and then back into the saltwater. That should kill a lot of the bacteria on the fish!
