    I just got back from a trip and my true percula has ich! This is my first time with it and I need some help. I already did a water change r/t my nitrate level being 80. (I already lost one fish while I was away.) Everything that I have read agrees with increasing the temp on the tank and adding salt. What has worked for you in the past? Also I heard about a freshwater dip for the effected fish but I am not sure how to do that. I have a 12 gallon Nano reef tank. Any help is appreciated! :confused:

    There is really no proven way to cure it in your reef tank if you have inverts in there. Raising the temp only speeds up there life cycle and you would want to lower your salt content not raise it but that would also be very hard on inverts. The only true way to cure ich is to take all fish out of your tank for 6 weeks at least and treat them. The ich in your display tank will die out in that time and your treated fish will be ready to go back in. Do you have a QT tank?

    How many fish do you have in your DT? If there are only a few then QT might be your best option and do a hypo-salinity treatment in your QT and just leave your inverts in your DT after raising temp slightly with no further action for 6 weeks.
    If you have lots of fish then the stress of moving every fish and the strain that wil be put on your QT (bacteria wise) will likely kill your fish. With a large number of fish I would try to kep the water parameters as stable and perfect as possible without making any large changes. Soak all food with garlic and think about getting a few cleaner shrimp and/or neon gobies. Ich is brought on by stress and by keping your tank stress-free you can reduce the amount of ich in there.

    To help with your nitrate level I ned you to answer a few questions;
    How many fish do you have in there?
    What sort of system is it? Sump, refuge, sand depth etc.
    What cleaning regime do you have and how do you clean/remove water from your tank?

    Sorry for all the questions, but I just need to get a better understanding where these nitrates are coming from.
