Cleaner shrimp cannot eat ich. Ich burrows under the scales, where the cleaners can't get it.

The tangs feel it, so they'll go near the shrimp and flare their fins to "call" them to clean, but the shrimp can't get to it.

I have read that cleaner shrimp and fish cannot eat the ich off the fish. But their cleaning does make the fish feel better!

Skin, scales, whatever you want to call it. It burrows under the (outer layer) of the fish, and creates a cyst. Cleaners literally cannot get to it. Other parasites hang off of the fish; ich burrows into the fish. Cleaners are only effective against the other parasites.

All I will tell you is to keep an eye out for it. Ick will come back if not treated correctly, which means some time in a QT. Hope it's over for you though.
