alright im setting up a new tank and transferring everything minus the sand from the old tank to the new one...i know i have ick in my system because during stressful times my fish have shown it but i am yet to lose a fish to ick since everything is relatively healthy with a good diet.....now that being said i know in the stages of ick it can be held in the water column and the substrate but can ick attach to LR? I have thought if it doesnt stick to LR ill put new sand and then move the LR over and quarantine the fish and treat with copper before moving into new tank. if ick is found on LR then ill probably move everything over anyway and just keep my fish happy and healthy

save your time! Unless you QT/treat everything that was in the tank including LR, the ich will make the trip over. And thats a 8 week process. Prob worth it, but its kinda an all or nothing situation.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If it's wet it can carry the parasite.

It all a moot point unless you QT everything and treat prophylatically for the parasite from here on out.

alright just got my answer, it would be hard for me to find space to QT everyone and keep the tank fallow for 6-8 weeks so ill just deal with it, a lot of tanks have ich but dont know it because they dont show signs without stress

yeah i know, but it is controllable to a degree. But honestly, were you going to QT any chaeto/mangroves/snails/hermits/EVERYTHING for the rest of the tanks life??? prob not, so therefore, you prob would've reintroduced ich back into the tank, so may as well just control it. I know I wouldn't take ALL the steps to keep it out, kudos to those that do though.
