    Hoping someone can tell me what these are, and if it/ they are a problem or not. Seems to be taking over my skimmer section of my sump, and also has moved into my return section. I only see it in the sump so far. Thanks.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    It's a sponge and harmless. Some types of sponges like to grow in the dark cryptic areas of sumps, canisters...... a lot of flow and particulate matter.
