Bought today at LFS...sold to me as "gobies" - but are they? - can't find anywhere in "Goby" ID pics - don't have normal "shape"/"structure" one generally associates as "goby"

Beautiful, delicate & peaceful..open water swimmers, always staying close together...

All my fish ID books failing me...can't find pic anywhere...or am just not looking in right place...

    Anyone know...???? :p

Those are bar gobies some people call them Zebra gobies. There species name is Ptereleotris zebra. Very easy to take care of and peaceful. They might also breed for you. If you have a pair.

    Thanks reefman...exactly what they are...

The Bar Goby is also referred to as the Zebra Dart Goby, Zebra or Barred Dartfish, Zebra Goby, or Chinese Zebra Goby. Both the head and body of the Zebra Dart Goby are light green. Its attractive slender body has numerous vertical, evenly-spaced thin orange stripes displaying an intricate pattern.

was their "auora" of "peacefullness" that attracted me to them in first place.

    Gorgeous colors...

Do have a pair...(were only two in shop)...so will hope for "wedding" - they do appear pretty "attached" to each other already, never separated far apart...

good appetites & adjusted quickly and well to new environment and tank mates...(female maroon clown chased them about initially, but ignores them now...guess she just needed to show them who was "boss" of the tank - ;))

    Thx again...
