this is a video i shot yesterday and posted it on another forum but this is an emergency! one of my hermits is dead because of those worms and i think about half of the amphipods are gone. today i count at least 20 of them in these jars and most of them are in one giant pile. i can't figure out whether they came from the small piece of live rock i had or from the sand i got at the beach. they are red and black and i think they are bristle worms although i think there might be two species as another type has these two little string like things at the head or it could have been food or something. here is the video link.

Thats just making me nauseous. Is there any way you can take some still shots of them?! I think we could help a little more that way.

Feels like watching the Blair Witch Project.

I see nothing looks like anything unusual for the sand. My bet is your parameters are way off, the hermits starved or killed each other because they were starving.

look like an outbreak of fireworms...6line wrasse or an arrow crab will take care of that issue

this is only a jar. the only things in it are a few surviving amphipods and 1 lone arrow crab who is hiding on top of the plant. can anyone determine if they came from the beach or the rock.
