My brother bought me an Acro when he was out of town. Thanks bro! While aclimating and dipping the Acro I noticed a small crab on the Acro. This crab is brownish and appears to be covered in hair. It has bright white eyes. If it wasnt for his eyes I would have never seen him. He blends in very well. For the life of me I cannot get a picture of him. Ive never had an Acro Crab. Is this guy Acro safe? He is hanging out in a fork of the Acro and refuses to come out where I can reach or take pics of him. TIA! ;D

Are the eyes blue-ish at all?

The hair sounds questionable, but I've seen a few acro crabs that were a little fuzzy. I would say that if came in living in the acro that it's more than likely an acro crab, but it might not be worth the risk in the long run.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have had a few acro crab hitch hikers, never had an issue. I rarely see threads of true acro eating crabs.

Honestly I think they are very very cool and would be hesitant to remove one, but I have never had an issue with one, probably a different story for someone that lost a nice frag or colony.

Not that I can see. His eyes appear as though they are pure white. Very small and very shifty. He is about 1/4 the size of a dime. I tried to grab him but no luck. He also survived the dip. :-/

Fuzzy might be the best word for this guy. Very short fuzzy brown hair. He is clinging to the Acro for dear life. I am guessing an Acro Crab but not sure.

I would say my crab is very similar to that crab yes. Only I cannot tell if he has a blue tent to his eyes or not. They appear pure white.

ok well i've heard good and bad about these guys. i removed mine, cuz i actually heard him curshing the skeleton of the coral and picking at poylps, that was the shaded sided however. but the whole of the coral seemed to be happy after i removed him. how big is the colony just curious?

It is approximately 4X4 inches. Good sized colony. There are no dead spots that I can find. The crab..... when you can find him is really cool. But, he concerns me. He is very deceptive in his appearance. The pure white eyes gave him away. Otherwise, he is NOT detectable. The coral appears very happy. Complete polyp extension within 20 minutes of entering my reef. ;D
