ID on these macros please

    I just found these macros mixed in with some fresh shrimp that we bought. i ran fresh water over them for a minute then left to soak in some fresh water for a minute. They are now in my fuge. Anyone have an ID?

    First one I dont have a guess
    Second looks like Fire Fern to me.

    Maybe John Maloney will see them and he'll know for sure. :)

    Yeah the first one is really weird.
    I can't find a picture of fire fern anywhere for some reason so I'll just take your word on that. Thanks k+.

    Don't take my word LOL! Fire Fern is a common name. I bought some from reefcleaners and really liked it alot. So did the crabs and my yellow tang lol.

    well that's good. i have a yellow tang, so when i have to trim it i can feed the tank with it. i really want to know what the black one is though.

    maybe acanthophora spicifera on the first one. hard to tell, it looks kind of dead. either a super stressed and dying fire fern, or a gracilaria tikhavie variation that is pretty common.

    They were in a cooler with ice for a really long time so they would be very stressed, I'm not sure they will survive. the black one does look like acanthophora spicifera other than the color. Does acanthophora spicifera turn black when it dies? Is it going to cause any problems in my tank or can I leave it awhile to see what happens?
