It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Typically their die off should be of no issue in a cycled tank. Members of your CUC and bristle worms and a whole host of other things will eat them.

In some tanks they do live and grow, in most tank they die off, not enough DOC or suspended particles to feed them.

I would not worry about the spawning in the tank and spreading.

Do you know where this piece originated? Did you get it at a local fish store or on line?

    Excellent job on the ID.

Thank you again for another great sours of knowledge
I Just made a call to a fellow reefer from whom i got this piece, and its appears we have about two years of history on this rock.Hi bought it from LFS with few polyps on it,then he added couple of more from his oun thank. And year and half lather its in my tank for four months already. He is an experienced reefer and hi did not noticed of any clam on that rock.He had T5 lights over his tank and his dosing all that "crazy chemicals"::).I'm running DIY LED's and weekly water change with H2O Salt mix.Oh BTW i noticed that sponge grout after adding 12*3w UV and 4*3W cyano LED's to my DIY.And the thank is 5 months and 20 days old.

You guys have them essentially ID'ed already of course, but they look to be Acar plicata if you need a species name. They like to hide under rocks, but will go on the stroll if they find themselves in unfavorable conditions.

    Cheers,
