I noticed a few days ago when moving some rock that i have a couple hitchhicker palys (no clue where they came from or how they survived for a year burried under all kids of rock) anyway i moved the rock to a place with more light and i noticed these little things that look kind of like a closed paly[IMG] or zoa...but not really lol, kind of look like a cup or a goblet shape. i thought maybe it was a paly half closed up but it has been over a week and they have yet to open or move at all. If you look in the pic you can see them to the right of the hammer and clown. They look white in the pics (dang MHs lol) but they are a tan color, similar to the bigger paly on top or the rock...any ideas?

Definitely a paly of some sort. It looks open to me and may stay a dingy yellowish brown because that is it's natural color. The little ones below it are probably bleached from loss of zooxanthellae because of no light. They may color up again or they may not. But I bet they are clones of the large open one on top of the rock.

oh no i know the open one on top is a paly, i am talking about the white looking things undernath it, they are not actually white, its just my lights that make them look that way. they kind of look like a mushroom with an upsidedown cap...

Oh just to let you know they did end up opening up after a while and it turns out they are palys...weird ive never seen them look like that before...anyway they must not have been doing to good in the zooxanthellae department because now they are starting to turn green, and they also now glow under the moonlights...nice!

I would bet $5 that they are Green Implosion Palys :) I bought a small frag some 2yrs ago and it was the worst buy I ever made. They are weeds! They can and do live through anything.

I think you may be right...they arnt as colorful yet as the pics i saw, but your description sounds like 'em lol, i have about twice as many as i did already and they indeed did live through something most corals would not lol! If they end up spreading like weeds that works for me...just something else easy and quick to trade into the LFS hahaha!
