Red Slime algae similirar to cyano... I think that they are pretty much treated the same, but I never have had the blue stuff. It will get thicker on you and usually starts with too much organic stuff in the tank. Do you spot feed the coral? I've heard from other that sometimes the supplement/food they used has aided in growing this stuff.

I would say cyno, looks just like my last outbreak. Try cutting down on feeding/nutrients, also could be old bulbs. You could try an oxidizer to eliminate dissolved organics

Just to clarify, red slime algae is cyano. It comes in a few colors but red is what you see more often in an aquarium. :)

Yeap thats definitely cyano bacteria. All the things that GuitarMan89 stated should take care of it. Also try increasing the flow around the tank to eliminate deadspots and also when doing water changes siphon it out.

LOL weird thing is I just replaced the two old maxi-jets that were struggling through life, and just replaced all the bulbs right before this stuff started showing up, though I just changed the feeding on the tank to an auto-feeder and a sinking pellet I found the fish liked so I'll switch back to the old food and do a water change. The flow in the tank is hellacious in these areas thats why I was confused as to why cyano was forming there

Sure does. I've had it twice and both times it was brownish red. I've never seen it as red as Iraf's.
