    "I haven't touched it but it seems to be hard tissue and it looks like it has some small hairs on it."

    Which object are we wanting to ID? I see a serpulidae/sabellidae and a kenya tree-like soft coral.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Could be a Fire coral aka Milleporidae, that is just a rough guess though. Your description of "hairs" is why I considered this ID as well at the impression that what ever it is it's does not require intense lighting.

    Sorry for that, I am referring to the tree like object, only it is a hard structure, not soft like a Kenya tree.

    I thought the same. The picture is poor. We shall keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger, I shall try for another, much better picture.

    I haven't seen this with my own eyes and I apologize for the poor picture, but I'd say neither of the above.

    I agree with Cheryl it looks like a fire coral. I WOULD NOT TOUCH IT IF I WERE YOU.I have been stung and let me tell you it is NO picnic.Use a feeding stick or something to see if it is hard or soft.
