ok im very new around here so hopefully someone can help me ID a few things...

I assume this is some kind of worm... im just really not sure what kind it is. Also if it is a worm, is it a bad worm?

next there are three things im unsure of...i think #1 is flame algae? #2 no idea, maybe some kind of polyp? and #3 again not sure, wild guess a small featherduster?

Im surprised i even have anything growing in here since i dont have my lights setup yet. all i have is one T-8 (20Watt) 50/50 bulb...

Thank you for any help in advance! :)

I'm pretty sure number 3 is a feather duster, but I don't have any experience with the rest. I have several feather dusters growing on the live rock I bought, and they look just like that.

Pic 1 #3, that's what I thought at first. It looks like an Aiptasia anenome. Some people remove them immediately, as they can spread spread spread. Others leave them. I left mine and it has grown pretty big. I always keep an eye on it. If it starts to multiply, it's gone.

I have no idea on all others.

If it's coming out of what appears to be a shell-like tube, it is not aiptasia. I think I have a couple of aiptasia in my aquarium, but I am going for the "wait and see" approach. Really it's just that I can't get a good picture of it as it is located very poorly for the camera to register it.

At any rate, I hear there are some hermits or some such that eat aiptasia when it's small, but I'd like confimration on that before you believe me ><

I believe #2 is yellow colony polyps. #3 looks like feather duster and if you find out what #1 is let me know. I have some starting to grow.

well actually in the first picture it is coming out of a tube thing and when i was taking pictures it appeared to close or go in the tube. i had to kind of sneak a picture lol. Hmm...i guess for now i will just wait and see what happens.

    Also when do Zoas open?

Thank you all for your help!

Then I would say it's a feather duster.

Does #3 (on pic 2) go into a tube? If not, I would say it's possibly an Aiptasia. But, it looks like another feather duster to me. Hard to tell from the pic (or my eyes suck :-/).

any thoughts on what kind of featherduster it could be? id like to do some reading on these things (im very excited ;D)

No, only the first picture (the red thing) goes into the tube. #3 in picture 2 just appears to be hanging off the side of this lr but again i cant see what is on the backside either...
