    ok i have this stuff that looks like crushed red velvet on my frogspawn and in other areas of the tank. here are some pics , please let me know what you think. the last pic is what i would like to know for sure what it is, the base is about the size of a baseball and when it opens up it is really big LOL

    Could be a little Cyano (red-slime) it tends to be more deep red, byurgandy in color. If you usea turkey baster it should come off really easy if you suck it up or blast water at it otherwise Pheonix is right and it;s probably just coraline....

    Looks like the burgundy coraline, its also called plating coraline.

    The coral looks like a Trachyphllia, hard to tell cause there is several corals real similar.

    the red doesnt come off that easy and feels funny to the touch so must be coraline;D

    now what about these things?
    thie first one is the brown stuff below the zoa's
    and just wandering whats grown on my sponge (white stuff, it opens up like polips)

    By the looks of the last one, and you stating that it grows quite large in size, I would say its a cat's eye coral, looks a tad bit odd colored though- try and get a picture of it when its retracted and when it's full out.
