So I bought one of my tanks used and it came with a wet/dry & skimmer. The skimmer has never worked well, it is also much different than the one I already had. Of course there are no instructions or anything. I've had this tank going for about four months. The thing barely skims and I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just lousy.

It says "Custom Acrylic Designs, Clearwater FL" on it, which seems to be an out of business acrylic design company. The setup also says "Acquatic Discoveries" on it, which seems to be an lfs in Michigan that was bought out by a place called "Aquarium Shine" who does not sell any wet/drys or skimmers and says they don't know anything about what I have.

I can never seem to "tune" this thing right. Does anyone have a skimmer that is at least similar to this??? Any suggestions to get it to skim better??

I cant tell you anymore than what you have researched already. Sounds like any typical "mom & pop" company, like Pro-Clear Aquatics from Jacksonville, that went out of business. Wish I could help. Luna

some skimmers need to have the inside water at a specific level(water line), some need the exit valve above the tanks water line, some kimmers have a riser tube to adjust the water level inside the vortex chamber, an air injection system, the right gph pump. You might need to play around with it and/or study other skimmers that look like yours. Luna

Thanks for the input... And I was about to say "pro-clear didn't go out of business" because I was at their site about a month ago (my other wet/dry & skimmer is pro-clear) but I went to their site, and it is no more. I really like my pro-clear skimmer it does very very well. Oh well. Off to more researching!

    Thanks!

I didnt mean that Pro-Clear Aquatics went out of business, I brought up that company to give an example of a some what "mom & pop" shop. I know that they're still in business and I also have one of their skimmers. Luna

Well their website isn't working! Maybe I'll grab another one of their skimmers from globalpets.com where I got the rest of my stuff.

My lfs sells their stuff here but upcharge a ridiculous amount so globalpets it is!

Hey bc, tooooo strange! I have been going to Aquatic Discoveries for years. They aren't out of business and Aquarium Shine didn't buy them, they are partners, Aquarium Shine only does aquarium maintenance for home and businesses. They just re-located to Rochester, Mi. I will see what I can find out.

Well when I google them I get a site that takes me to Aquarium Shine. I am totally confused now. All I know is that all of this stuff came from Aquatic Discoveries, and I am now clueless, even more than before.
