    Hello Everyone,

I just noticed these little "slug like" creatures making their way across the front and side panes of my tank.

What are they? Are they an issue in my tank? What should I do? Is there something I can use on my mixed reef to kill them?

Please help ASAP. Thank you in advance.

    Robert

They are flatworms. Really weird I have never seen so many post related to flatworms.

If you look around or do a search you will see you are not the only one having a flatworm problem.

You can cut back on feeding the tank, and attempt to suction as many out as you can and just keep repeating. Or you can try flatworm exit, but you need to get rid of as many as possible first because as they die they release a toxin. You are probably only seeing 20% of the flatworms that are actually there.

Well I just dosed with Flatworm eXit and am carefully watching the tank. I suctioned all as many of the worms as I could readily see before dosing, and once I dosed I continued to remove worms.

After the dosing I filled my ViaAqua 20/20 reactor with Kent Activated Carbon to remove the toxins. I also did a 20 Gallon water change once the worms were dead.

Let's hope that everything goes smoothly from here.

Wow ! that was quick. You may see some micro brittle stars start to float around. Invert usually take a minor hit but recover.

I am glad you acted now instead of waiting until the number exploded.

You may have to treat more than once, but you got a heads up on it.

Yes I hated the fact I he'd parasites in my tank and had to take action so they would not take over the tank.

I was told to keep an eye on the tank for a week and dose again if needed. So far everything looks good...hopefully it continues to stay that way.

My advice would be to dose again after a few days just to be sure.
