I bought this from my LFS yesterday. It was tagged Assorted Fairy Wrasse, and listed for $30. It looks like a Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse (Rosy Scale Fairy Wrasse) to me, which sell for a lot more than $30. Any other guesses?

Very active now, not even 24 hours in. Great eater, brine, mysis, pellet.

Pics are difficult to get...with my camera. If I don't use flash, the fish comes out purple and blue. If I do use flash, it scares him, and he darts so the pic is blurry. He is a very vibrant red, and that tapers off to a yellowing color toward the tail, with scales outlined with red. His tail and fins are yellow/red with blue lines. He seems to be getting much more comfortable as time goes on.

Based on those pictures, not a Red Velvet.

Most likely a Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis, but could maybe be a Cirrhilabrus lyukuensis

Doesn't look like any of the Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis pics I can find...and my LFS had a Blueside in a neighboring tank, and looks different. I cannot get a true picture of the coloring...the head from lips to 1" back is solid red...deep, bright, red. The 2" past that fades from red to yellow, with the outside of the scales the same color as the head ">" red.

The bottom of him is not blue as the pictures suggest, that is reflection from the sand and the blue leds. He has no blue on his body other than thin lines on the tail and fins.

    Any other guesses?

It could be based on that description, but based on the pictures I don't see it as one.
