I think they are manjano's. get rid of them

usually if you have hundreds of any kind of hitch hiker you should kill them.

    lol deja vu.

you know this exact scenario took place with me and my dad. He said he liked them and would feed them brine shrimp. fast forward 4 years he has hundreds and they are killing his other corals. fast forward another year and he admits he has a problem with them.

sounds the same, he liked them at first but like you said they are smothering his coral and he is not liking them as much now. he gave me a frag a long time ago and he wondered why i killed the few that were hitchhiking on it.

if you have the time and the juice you can go that route. My dad is trying a klien butterfly(not reefsafe). while I haven't seen it eat any yet, suspicously large patches near its swimming area are dissappearing.

I use Klein's butterfly on larger customer installations. When the majano's run out, I trap the fish. I've never lost any corals in any of their systems.

I didn't have hundreds but probably 50+ button polyp hitchikers on just one piece of LR. When new ones are sprouting now, they look EXACTLY like what is in the pic above....the green things below (sorry I don't have a pic of new ones sprouting):

I was lucky enough to get a 2nd piece of LR with some more of the same (left)...
