    This was on a piece of live rock I placed in my tank several month ago. I thought it was dead but it has been showing signs of life. What is it? the rock has two more small ones also.

    my friend has a rock with that on it too, we think some kind of brain... not sure though

    I wish I could get a closer picture but the camera goes blurry. It for sure is not Zoa's or polyps. I know they kind of look like that in the photo.

    If its encrusting, it may be a moon coral. Luna

    Nothing can be definitive with that pic. Maybe Favia/Favites. Another good possibility is goniopora/alveopora.

    I'm just guessing based on the pic I have available.

    The closest response is the Moon coral also called Favia. I will take the rock out of the tank tonight and take a picture.

    is it a hrad coral? is all that one piece or is it a bunch of little ones?
