ID this please

it is soft and all one piece. I was not able to pull the rock out for the picture lastnight. I will get it done tonight.

 

I have a small piece in my live rock also, but i am afraid is dead! could be some kind of brain coral

If you get some short polyp extension, maybe purple (actually purplish brown) Goniapora.

 

Does the tenticles come out at night only? B/C I have one also(not the same color thou) that I found on the beach and is brown-ish during the day and clear looking tenticles with a greenish tint t it at night. Kind 0f looks like a Sun Coral. Luna

 

I will go with some type of encrusting montipora.

At night there are what I can best describe as baby hairs all over the coral. To give you a referance of there size they are near "microscopic".
