ID this Starfish

    Saw this at a local shop. Shop owner can't ID.

    I saw these at a LFS and they were called Tile Stars but I am not sure if that is correct or not.

    Its a lovely little thing. I've seen them sold at my LFS before too...cant quite remember. It was a pink and orange something or other, lol.

    type of fromia.marble star. fromia monillis or fromia nodosa. main diet seems to be sponges and not known to take meaty foods. normally die of malnutrition in home aquaria

    Aw how sad. Sucks that some of the prettiest thing we cant keep alive in the home aquarium (as of yet) because we cant normally keep em alive. Just like the blue linkias.

    Well at least it is not a coral eater.

    I will try it then. I have a 150 Gal with a ton of LR. Hopefully, it will be enough. I know I have the biggest reef around, so he has a better chance than anywhere else.

    If it is in fact a sponge eating species, you will want to buy some frozen food for angelfish that has sponge in it. I don't think any tank has enough sponges in it to support such a specific feeder for very long. That being said, who knows if this starfish eats only one kind of sponge?
