Also, if I remove my canister filter, can I just add that cycle stuff to replace the bacteria that was in the canister?

    pic 1 & 2: sponges
    pic 3: feather dusters
pic 4: the tang police are going to harass you

how long have you had your tank set up for? the canister filter will have bacteria but so should your live rock, given that it has cycled. Also, if you have no other filtration, I would recommend keeping at least a canister filter so you have some way to remove waste... especially with two tangs in such a small tank!

White things in the first two pics are sponges, good to have
Third pic the red feather looking thing is a feather duster, good to have.

Let us know what you want identified if I have guessed wrong.

I think you should be fine with what you have on your live rock. But you could remove a 1/4 of the media in the canister each week to be safe.

I started the tank in March. I'm not a avid cleaner of canister filter. Just a mess to clean the canister. The questions remain is. Can I just unplug the canister now?

Yes, you can just un-plug your canister filter if you don't want to use it anymore.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. What do you plan on replacing your canister with in terms of filtration?

Just to ponder on what may be bothering you... Think of your situation in the exact opposite scenario where you are putting bio-load into a tank that isn't ready for it yet. i.e. when you add a new fish there isn't bacteria available to handle the additional bio-load. Taking bacteria out is the same as not having it in the first place. Your tank won't go through some major mini cycle.

I would maybe reconsider/wait if any of your fish are showing ANY signs of stress. The hippo tang especially. If everyone is fat n happy showing good color then you have really nothing to worry about.

Allfish are fat and healthly. Just live rock, skimmer and water changes.
