hey everyone, so i was taking a good look at the tank after i dropped some food in today . and something caught my eye... 3 little.. ( little enough that i cant get a picture of it) tentacles... come out of a crack in the LR and grab one of the sinking food pellets. it had to feel around a little to find the food. thats when i noticed it. but it must be full i tried to drop a tiny bit more to get it to come out again and it wouldnt.. the tenticles were a beige color with black stripes... Any idea? .. ive been running the tank for almost 7 months now and hadnt seen anything like this in there before. thanks.. if i get a picture of it tommorow ill put it up

I'm going to go with a peanut worm.... microstars don't really feel around for food like the peanut does.

They have tentacles that are not always seen.....

The way you describe it makes me believe that it is a Serpent SeaStar. I have one and he dosent come out unless food is sinking and exhibits the same behavior.

Have you ever seen one scavenge and take a visible piece of good?

Incognito, are you asking me or the OP?
My stars grabbed food all the time. I watched several at the LFS the other day grab pieces when they fed the cuttlefish. Someone here posted a video not too long ago of a starfish (leg only LOL) and a bristleworm fighting over a piece of food. The starfish won & pulled the food into the hole in the rock that it was in.

Mine do the same thing Incognito, they will actively put out their legs when food hits the water and grab fairly large pieces and pull them in no problem.
