I was looking at my tank this morning and I saw these long white tentacles floating around when the lights were off so I grabbed the flashlight. I tried to take pics. Sorry they suck but I only have my iPhone camera. I didn't manage to get pics of the tentacles because they retracted when I hit them with the flashlight. There were two and each only had one long white tentacle with little feather like things sticking off of it. Any idea what they might be and if they are good or bad.

I guess I should add that I was concerned because I have had some zoas closed up and some melting lately. I did a peroxide dip on the affected zoas and only a couple snails, an anthropod and some Copepoda came off the rocks. These worm things were found right next to both of the affected colonies.

The worm is the direct center of the pic, below and slightly left of the bubble algae. No aptasia in my tank do I know it isn't that.

maybe you should upgrade your camera or look around for hitch hiking worms yourself because unless i am blind, i don't see any worm in your picture

most likely it's harlmess and you're over reacting

definitely not a feather duster tube, it's soft and moves with the water current. Plus it retracts into the rock once the lights come one. Also, I know it's not a feather duster because of the shape of the tentacle. It was literally like 5-6" long this morning before I scared it with the light and the little "feather" things I saw on it were much smaller, maybe more like short hairs than feathers.

I'll see if I can get a better picture, but I'm not about to go out a drop a ton of money to buy a camera just to get a pic of this. I have been looking all over the web for an ID, but I can't find anything the same. Anyway, thanks for the help, no worries if you can't ID it. I just don't want to keep losing zoas.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I am guessing Vermetid Snail, casting it's mucous threads to catch suspended particles. These threads have mildly irritated my near by corals.
