    Hi all,

Still thinking about a possible new setup, one of the biggest problems I have is that all the aquariums that are the right size have a cabinet that has two doors with a centre shelf unit. See attached picture for an example:

My idea was to have two sumps, one would be for the skimmer and the other for a fuge which will also contain the return feed. Attached is another picture of a rough drawing I put together. Just to let you know that the sump pictures are a top down view not side on!

Any thoughts or ideas would be great.

Just on my first glance I see a problem with the yellow pipe between your two sumps. It can't be high up like you have it. Consider putting it lower, between the two tanks. You'll end up having to drill to do that, but it's a better way IMO. If it were me, I also would remove the T junction on the return line and just go with your left most line. Keep it straight and streamlined.

    just my $0.02 FWIW

EDIT: Crap, I forgot to add that with the suggestions I made, that's pretty much the exact same setup I'm using now.

    Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of using curved 90degree pipe except for the T junction, that way the flow should be better. The sumps will be acrylic so I can easily drill holes in them.

My only other thought was to also have a closed loop as well so I could get some serious water flow without having the overflow system too noisy and hopefully get a bit more control.

Ohh, one more thing, what sort of lighting would be suffecient for the fuge, any cheap ideas would be great! :)

    Cheers

I've been using this site to try to figure out how I'm going to eventually convert my wet/dry to a sump/fuge...
