    Everyone,

I will be upgrading to a 75g mixed reef tank shortly and wanted to get some feedback on filtration set-ups, as I have had an HOB skimmer and HOB refugium on my current 46g tank and my new one will be drilled.

The tank I am buying already has a wet dry filter and skimmer in the sump, but wanted to get opinions on whether I should add a refugium or ditch/ replace some of the elements.

I know what each element of the filtration system does, but wanted to see what others are running. Also, is there a way to hook up a GFO reactor? Would I add that in line as the water is going back to the DT?

Thanks for the help- I have 0 experience with sumps.

You could possibly run a gfo reactor off of the return pump, it just depends on the pump and if it can handle it. I personally dont use a fuge in my sump. I have my skimmer, a pump in the sump for circulation, and the return. the return is plumbed to run a reactor if need be.

Run the GFO off of its own pump. I would not use anything from the wet/dry filtration except for a pad to remove solids. I would run a separate refuge if you have the room.

I'm kind of thinking I may just build a custom sump. I'm thinking I may go with the following in the sump: Filter sock (most likely) or pad, protein skimmer, refugium, GFO reactor, return pump

I like to run filter socks for the mechanical filtration. I get 100um, 50um, 10um and 1um. Depending on how much I am trying to polish I swap them out.
