NEVER EVER, I REPEAT, NEVER BLEND OR MIX HOT AND COLD WATER FOR A RO MEMBRANE !!!

    That cannot be stressed enough.

Remember being in the shower and someone flushed the toilet or started the washing machine on cold? You got your tush scalded!
Same thing happens to the RO membrane and it is an extremely thin plastic film, much thinner than saran pr plastic food wrap and it cannot take anything over 113 degrees F. or it is toast.

Besides colder water treats better than warmer water since it is more dense so will give you a lower RO only TDS and increase the life of your DI resin dramatically.

Never try to warm the water, cold water only and if the GPD suffers use a booster pump if its not enough for you. Increasing the pressure also makes the membrane work better, RO membranes love pressure and its by far the better choice over warmer water.

Thanks for all the input guys. Cold line only it is. This booster thing, where does it go? Is is a part of the r/o or would it be attatched to the cold water line? How much are they and where do i get one???

    Thanks again!

Aquatec 8800 booster pumps are the industry standard and will run you $150-$200 complete with a 24v DC power supply and pressure switch. It is often installed between the sediment filter and the carbon block or some people use a strainer in front of the pump and place them both before the sediment filter. Mine is mounted on my top bracket so everything is self contained. Running at 95+/- psi and with my water temp 56 degrees I get a little over 120 GPD out of my 75-90 GPD RO membrane at 99.43% RO rejection rate so it is very efficient.

I don't remember why I did this, as it was over 15 years ago, but interesting things can happen to your RO/DI tubing as well when hooked up to the hot water.

I wonder how many times I flooded that 3rd floor apartment over the years.......
