I'm planning on upgrading to a 100-150gal (hopefully drilled)pretty soon and was thinking about using my 55gal as the sump/fuge for it. with my 55 ive never ran a skimmer just the ecosystem sump/fuge. Quick scetch here of what i got (pretty rough i know lol). Couple questons if i use the 55 how should i chamber it? should i add a skimmer? where would the best spot be for UV?

You have the right idea with your sketch. However, where you have the bioballs located in the far left section is where I would put the skimmer. I would also put the heater in that same section as you will find out once you get it running that not much water goes through the refugium section.

What might be a better idea is to move the fuge over to the right side and, and like irr said put a skimmer where the bioballs are, and then in the middle have your return. The reason for this is you don't want a lot of flow through the fuge, pods are trying to reproduce, not be constantly sucked back up into the DT. you'd have to T off your drain line so most of the water goes into the skimmer section and then a little bit goes to the fuge.
Here's a good example, not mine, just good.

of course with a 55 you'd have more room than this, I'd make the return section bigger so you wouldn't have to constantly be topping water off or i'd make one this size and use the extra space to keep an ATO container. just my thoughts.
