    Hey all i am new to the forums. Not really new to tanks and what not. I was looking for advice for a hang on the back skimmer that would do a really great job but not break the bank. Any Ideas i would love to hear them.

    I'm a fan of the AquaC Remora. It's got a narrow profile and does a great job in my 29g

    Just read the manual for the RemoraC;
    Break-In Period
    Your skimmer will release a number of microbubbles back to the tank during its first week or so of operation. While it
    is breaking in it won’t collect much foam, but it will create many microbubbles that escape back to the tank. This is
    completely normal and they should subside after 1-2 weeks. If you are using any water conditioners or stress coat it
    is normal for the skimmer to produce an excessive amount of wet foam. We recommend against the use of these
    products, especially during the break-in period as they can potentially overflow the skimmer collection cup in a very
    short amount of time.
    Microbubbles and Noise

    If you don't mind 1-2 weeks of micro bubbles in the display, it seems to be a good skimmer.

    Not even 1 week of micro bubbles in the tank. This is coming from experience.

    +1 on the AquaC Remora HOB, I absolutely love mine. I have it on my 55g reef and it's been great. Don't let the microbubbles scare you, mine dissapared in about a week and I've never seen them since, DO NOT buy the overflow pre-skimmer box, it's a waste.

    Also get the Maxi-jet 1200 pump not the Rio 800. Got mine from marine depot: http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaC_Re...rotein_Skimmers-AquaC-AC3111-FIPSHOSI-vi.html

    best of luck!

    I have a octopusBH-100F. It's loud and needed to be modded like crazy to keep from supplying the tank with a constant supply of bubbles.

    It works... but it is loud.
