any way to get a HOB overflow + sump set up? if so your skimmer options would really start to open up.

Well when I seek advice, I'd rather have someone with experience with a product than a quote from a manual. Just my two cents. ;)

I'm running the SRO LX-1000 HOB on my 55. It's large, red and obtrusive. If you can deal with the red or have some black krylon paint handy and your lighting won't get in the way, it's a beast of a skimmer. 0 Microbubbles in display tank from day 1, and out performed my old Remora HOB by leaps and bounds once broken in. IMO one of the best HOB skimmers you can get.

I agree, however, what you experience may not be what another experiences. Example; one guy on here said he used Chemi-Clean for cyano and it killed all his fish! I have used it many times and it never killed anything but the cyano.

Glad you agree that experience counts instead of hearsay ;)

Thanks all they reason no sump setup cause well space is limited and the budget is as well. I am slowly getting my wife into fish. So i thought a good HOB would be great to start since i am already searching out a bigger tank for the house. I have a Custom Hood me and my father built so it can't go super huge or anything. Again thank you all i love all the feed back i am getting.

As a rep for a skimmer company, I can honestly tell you that I don't think there is much that will beat Aqua C for something economical but still good. This is our most comparable skimmer and would do an awesome job:

    BH 100F Protein Skimmer

Octopus does make some good ones also, but just judging from the threads I see on here often they are not as easy to rune as an Aqua C.

The SWC looks as low profile as the Aqua C though. From what the cones can do, I'm wondering if the 100F can do just as good of a job. I do like the bubble trap and surface skimmer. Getting those features on an Aqua C will cost you and extra $40

I agree, a very promising design. I try to keep my recommendations subjective though, and I have seen overwhelming praise for Aqua C from most people. Soon there will be a bunch of these SWC HOB's running at Elite Reef, and Than I will be able to see the true glory behind them...
